COVID jabs to be imported from abroad for inoculation drives in Jaipur & other Raj districts

In a bid to supplement the COVID vaccine stocks in the state, the Rajasthan administration will circulate proposals for acquiring the immunity booster jabs from foreign manufactures. Propelled by a need for large batches of vaccine doses, this measure shall aid the state authorities in conducting large-scale drives for 18+ individuals. Reportedly, a humongous count of 7 crore jabs is required to vaccinate 3.5 crore people aged between 18 to 44 in the state.

The latest decision regarding immunisation in the state was sanctioned by the Chief Minister in a recent online meeting of the cabinet. As per the current plans, it is expected the import program will help in the procurement of around 1 crore vaccine jabs. The state officials are making sure to formalise the process at the earliest and Expression of Interest (EoI) will be produced soon by deputing National Health Mission as a nodal agency.

During the meeting, the ministers expressed worry over the escalating count of infections in the state. All of them agreed that a swift and streamlined action plan for vaccination fueled by enhanced stocks. Additionally, the members deliberated upon the immunisation of 18+ individuals and it was promulgated that ₹3,000 crores will be spent on it.

The Chief Minister has requested the people in Rajasthan to undertake sufficient precautions and ensure COVID-appropriate behaviour on the upcoming festivals of Eid and Akshay Tritiya. COVID tallies in Rajasthan have continued to be the higher side with 16,384 new cases recorded on Wednesday.

On the same day, 12,840 recoveries were marked while the death toll rose by 164. As of now, a cumulative count of 8,05,658 has been affected by the COVID virus in the state and 2,09,110 of these fall in the category of currently active patients.
