In order to regenerate a cultural environment, Jaipur-based Cartist, is creating fancy furniture by upcycling, recycling and reusing old car parts and automotive wastes. The founder, Himanshu Jangid, says that he aspires to create a hand-crafted and sustainable eco-art system by leasing a fresh life to decomposed automobiles, with the love and joy of the elements of nature. Started around 3 years ago, Cartist is devoted to bridging the gap between art practitioners and automobile art lovers. The term 'Cartist' has been conceptualized from the words, 'Car' and 'Artist', which aims to renovate an automotive creatively, to further urbanize society in an artsy and eco-friendly way.

By adopting upcycled automobile wastes, the company reduces carbon footprints and saves resources, to create tenable furniture and then, brings them out in the mainstream markets by reducing the costs of recycling or scraping. To create a circular economy, the objective is to accelerate the transitioning process of the automobile industry, resulting in evolution.

With a focus on 'Waste to Wealth Mission' and by displaying a variety of gold-ranged furniture, Jangid is currently converting 90% of reusable car parts to make premium furniture. He believes that everyone should do their bit to save the planet and prevent climate change through innovative ideas and structures.

Up till now, Cartist has refurbished about 10,000 car parts and innovated hand-crafted designer furniture ranging from tables and chairs to stools, table lamps and whatnot. A common man would literally get a refined piece of furniture in exchange for a dumpster car!

After the launch of the 'Vehicle Scrappage Policy' on August 13 '21, many youths are now encouraged to join the 'Kachre ko Kanchan' programme- that is to make wealth out of scrap materials. Cartist works on the same module and urges the people of India to join them in the initiative to revamp the automobile industry in a unique way.
