Jaipur Development Authority is trying to include amenities for the specially-abled, in the proposed underpass at the Laxmi Mandir Junction. Reportedly, the authorities are deliberating upon the probable additions currently and the underpass will be the first to have such facilities, if the ideas turn into workable plans. As per reports, an official informed that the current proposals include the setting up of elevators to aid the specially-abled and wide ramps for wheelchair-bound individuals.
Underpass to be set between Sabzi Mandi & Tonk Road

As per reports, the civic organisation is working to prepare the final framework for this underpass this week. Once the plans are ready, the body will ask for tenders subsequently. Recently, the beautification project for the Laxmi Mandir Junction received financial and administrative sanctions and the upcoming two-lane underpass is a part of the proposed interventions. This new facility will be set up between Sabzi Mandi and Tonk Road in a bid to ease the traffic movements.
In addition to this, a specialised subway will also be established for the benefit of pedestrians. Further, the entire area will be revamped by installing sculptures of freedom fighters.

As per reports, the state government has decided to transform seven intersections into traffic-free centres and the Laxmi Mandir junction is the first to undergo renovation.
Given the heavy traffic witnessed on the three-legged intersection at Laxmi Mandir, it was important to implement a project for easing the situation. Notably, the road crossing serves as an important junction for many citizens commuting in public transport vehicles. Thereby, a large count of regular travelers will be benefitted once the current plans are materialised.
