Now, alarmed by the renewed acceleration of COVID cases in Maharashtra and Kerala, the state government has decided to mandate the presence of a negative report of RT PCR test for all commuters travelling to Rajasthan from these two states.

This decision was taken in a COVID meeting conducted on Thursday, in the presence of the Chief Minister of the state. This latest order comes with the objective to block the entry of the COVID virus from the states of Maharashtra and Kerala where the infection rates are soaring up high. In the same meeting, the government also resolved to conduct immunisation awareness camps for spreading information about inoculation in addition to busting myths and misconceptions around it.

Additionally, the CM also asked the citizens of the state to assure complete adherence to COVID protocols and guidelines, avoiding any kind of laxity or incautious behaviour. He was quoted saying, "There is nothing to be afraid of COVID vaccine. All those people should go for vaccination whose turns are coming and should not be scared in any case."

Concerned by the surging COVID cases in the adjoining territories, the government is expected to work on more interventions in this regard. The CM has summoned another meeting of the state's top officials to deliberate upon this besides chalking out plans to arrest the COVID spread among school students. While the students of higher classes were attending offline classes from the last year itself, the government had allowed for the opening of schools for classes 6 to 8 from February 8.

On Thursday, Maharashtra and Kerala had 59,358 and 52,864 active cases of the COVID virus respectively. Together this accounts for nearly 75.4% of the country's active patient load. Contrarily, Rajasthan had just 1,204 active cases on the same day. Seeing these figures, it is clearly evident that the latest decision was much needed to block the permeability of the virus through inter-state travellers.
