Jaipurites, get ready for Smart Toilets in the city

In a bid to make Jaipur a Smart city and a more lucrative place in general, the Jaipur Development Authority has almost completed working on new smart toilets that will be set up at two places in the city. This move comes after the authorities’ failed efforts to comply with the needs of the average commuter in the city. The lack of proper toilets was indeed creating a sanitary issue but these toilets should bring about a change.

What’s the update?

As per the JDA’s decision, the new toilets will come up in two locations- Ramniwas Bagh and Rambagh Circle. The cost of construction of these toilets comes to about ₹60 lakhs each. For a toilet that expensive, we’re expecting it to have all sorts of facilities.

What facilities do they have?

These new convenience centers will come as a boon to travellers as they have state of the art facilities, such as a sanitary pad vending machine in the women’s toilets and an incinerator to properly dispose of waste materials. What’s more is that women can also feed their young ones in a section of the waiting area.

Apart from just these facilities, the waiting room and adjoining areas will consist of water coolers and purifiers, ATM machines, vending machines for drinks and water and even free WiFi. These entire complexes are being modeled after similar ones in Delhi and Mumbai, which have indeed made a difference.

We’re glad to see that Jaipur is developing really fast and is gaining such facilities. Though there were five such toilets proposed, only two have been constructed. This was mainly due to budget constraints and infrastructural technicalities.

These two toilet complexes are almost complete and according to reports, they should be inaugurated in the next two weeks.
