In a bid to check the spiralling count of COVID infections in Rajasthan, Jaipur and all other districts of the state will be clamped under strict lockdown restraints till May 17. Previously, the state administration had declared lockdown till May 3 which has been extended by a period of two weeks now, in view of the record-breaking surge in COVID numbers. Amplifying the restrictions, the Home Department has termed the upcoming lockdown as ‘Red Alert Public Discipline Fortnight’.
Stringent curbs to break the uncontrolled chain of infections!
Earlier the 6-day (from 28 April to 3 May) lockdown was labelled as ‘Public Discipline Fortnight’ and now the bans and limitations have been increased. While weekend curfew will remain to be in practice on Saturdays and Sundays, no public movement between 12 noon to 5 PM will be allowed on any day of the week. If any citizen is found loitering without a purpose, he/she will be quarantined immediately till an RT-PCR negative report is obtained.
Stretching the timeline of restriction applied during the ongoing lockdown, all government offices, markets and commercial centres are barred from opening till May 17. According to the schedule contained in the orders, liquor shops, food-related shops, grocery and flour mills and optical-related shops are allowed to operate from 6 AM to 11 AM on five days a week from Monday to Friday.
Fruit and vegetable vendors, rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and mobile vans are permitted to conduct business from 6 AM to 5 PM while mandis, fruit and vegetable shops will cater to customers from 6 AM to 11 AM every day. Milk and dairy products can be purchased from 6 AM to 11 AM in the morning and from 5 PM to 7 PM in the evening. Further, sports grounds and recreational gardens can have their gates open from 5 AM to 11 AM.
Bakeries & restaurants only allowed to provide home delivery services
Processed food and sweet shops, bakeries and restaurants will not be allowed to welcome guests but home delivery services will be permitted to operate till 8 PM. As per the new guidelines, no more than 31 individuals, excluding the band players, will be allowed at weddings and funerals will take place with only 20 people.
Authorities have been directed to ensure that cinema halls, theatres, recreational parks, swimming pools, gyms and all religious places remain shut during the lockdown. In addition to this, all schools, colleges, libraries, coaching centres other than medical and nursing colleges are not permitted to function.
The order released by the state administration also stated that all hospitals, including veterinary medical facilities and labs, will be authorised to operate. Additionally, those commuting to Rajasthan from other states will have to produce a negative RT PCR report conducted not more than 72 hours before arrival.
