Recording a spike in the number of Omicron cases, four people in Rajasthan tested positive for the Omicron variant of Coronavirus on Monday. According to the official data, a total of 17 Omicron cases have been recorded in the state, so far. Meanwhile, with 7 new cases in Jaipur alone, a total of 27 people had tested positive for COVID in Rajasthan, yesterday.

Reportedly, eight fresh cases of covid were registered in Hanumangarh, seven in Jaipur and Bikaner each, two cases each in Ganganagar and Udaipur and a single COVID positive patient was detected in Churu district. According to official data, the active caseload in Rajasthan has reached 259 as of Monday evening. Notably, two fatalities were also reported in the last 24 hours in Rajasthan including a 78-year old man from Sardarshahar and an 80-year old woman from Rajsamand.

According to reports, out of the four new Omicron cases detected yesterday, three had come in contact with an infected family which had returned from South Africa recently. Apart from this, a woman with a travel history from Ukraine via Dubai had also contacted this new strain of Coronavirus. With this addition recorded in Rajasthan on Monday, the cumulative tally of India’s Omicron count has reached 49 now.
