Since Rajasthan has been a preferred destination for a bunch of filmmakers from both the Bollywood and Hollywood industry, the government is now shifting its focus to a digital model, to provide for a glitch-free experience for those who are into making films. With an aim to facilitate ‘ease of doing business’, the government has introduced revised film shooting permits and a digital application service, which would help to rediscover Rajasthan’s heritage, culture and locales. This facility has also been extended to travel companies and safari operators.

The online platform which has been launched, will grant film and commercial product shooting permits in the state while taking into consideration the Rajasthan Film Shooting (Amendment) Regulations 2016. Along with this, the concerned department is formulating a mechanism where producers will be able to pay fees online so that there is no added hassle.
As per claims of the Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department, filmmakers from all over have been waiting for such an online setup. This launch of the online authorisation service will further require no physical visits of the crew, which is a necessary feature these days amidst the backdrop the pandemic.
The online services are now live and interested people can easily access them from the Single Sign-On (SSO) login at sso.rajasthan.gov.in. Previously the Rajasthan Tourism Department had additionally issued SOPs for film shoots, to promote the activities of the film industry in the state during the unlocking phase. As per reports, in the last four years, the department has granted around 95 permissions for shootings.
Several movies till date, like Rang De Basanti, Delhi 6, PK, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat and so on, have captured Rajasthan’s essence extensively and to further boost the film fraternity’s interest, this venture will be of great help.
