In view of intense lock-ins and traffic jams at Kanpur’s prominent intersections, a report, proposing constructions of flyovers at Vijayanagar, Fazal Ganj, Govindpuri Jaipuria school crossing was filed at the Madalyukta. However, the conclusive analysis of a survey reveals that there is no need to build a flyover at the Fazalganj intersection if there is one us at Vijayanagar. Conducted on the proposal of a district MP, this Mandalyukta survey has paved the way for the beautification and widening of the intersection to declutter roads. A proposal in this regard will be floated at the Mandalyukta soon.

After receiving a request to establish a flyover to decongest Kanpur roads, the Manadalyukta set up a team, including the PWD Chief Engineer, Setu Nigam General Manager, and KDA Engineers who collectively reported the unfeasibility to conduct any construction activity at packed Pandu Nagar intersection. Similar results were inferred for the crowded Sujatganj crossing. However, this team had cleared the proposal for a flyover, extending from Jaipuria crossing, Fazalganj intersection, Vijayanagar Nagar and Govindpuri to Nandlal intersection.
This clearance though was reviewed again, during the process of sanctioning an estimate, the survey has concluded no specific need for a flyover at Fazalganj. Instead, a decision to beautify and widen the intersection has been finalised upon.
Knock Knock
Though flyovers promise a seamless flow of traffic, the city will be packed by long and slow traffic jams if the entire route goes under the flyover construction at this point of time. The decision to not include Fazal Ganj will help to regulate traffic along the adjoining route without shouldering any drastic construction budget.
