The exam centres at Kanpur’s Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University will now be monitored by a technical expert, apart from the observer. While this will be applicable for sensitive centres, a control room has been set up from where a team of experts shall monitor more than 450 exam centres populated by almost 4 lakh students. This decision has been taken by the university’s administration after a recent case of mass cheating was anonymously reported during the final exams.
False cheating case reported at CSJMU
Use of unfair means was reported to the CSJMU administration on Sunday, during the second shift of ongoing annual exams. To check the situation, the Vice-Chancellor sent a team of professors to investigate the issue which eventually turned out to be false news. As a result of the pandemic, exams are being conducted with extensive use of technology and the VC has warned all observers and technical experts to stay vigilant so that even wrong information of cheating is not reported.
Measures taken to ensure exams are conducted in a fair manner
The city coordinator has been instructed to make videotapes of exam centres where the probability of deployment of unfair means during exams is high. If any cases of cheating are noticed then these videos shall be sent for further action under the Video Unfair Means (UFM).
Further, from Monday onwards, students of 4 exam centres shall appear for their tests at the Lecture Hall located in the university campus and at A.B. Vishwavidyala. These exam centres include- Shiva Shankar Shivaram Singh Mahavidyalaya, Kunwar Ram Bharose Mahavidyala, Amarnath Mahavidyala and Keshav Prasad Smarak Mahavidyalaya.They have been discarded from the list of centres amid increased cheating incidents and uproar regarding the same.
