Well, not if you live near Swaroop Nagar in Kanpur. A quaint joint by the name of ‘Energy Store’ is a local saviour. This joint is pure paradise for anyone who loves non-vegetarian grub but doesn’t want to burn a hole in their pockets trying to satiate their palate.

Located in the busy lanes of Swaroop Nagar, the storefront is quite unassuming, if you aren’t a local, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to find the store. Once you find it, the number of people standing here will make you realize how popular the store actually is. They are so popular that they simply have tables and dustbins beneath each table, where you can stand, eat and dump the waste.
The whole concept is quite smart if you ask us. The standing and eating also cuts the waiting time and if it is super crowded you can join any table you like.

The food here is delicious. It is classic to the coe and the quality is such that it feels like you’re literally paying scraps for a feast. Everything here is pretty darn awesome, the tandoori chicken, murg malai tikka, stuff tangri and reshmi tikka are our favourite tandoor snacks. While the butter chicken, mutton rogan josh, tawa chicken, kadhai chicken and fish with gravy suit the best when you’re craving for a warm curry.
You can also find great biryani, tikka rice, paneer rice and a plethora of other paneer dishes that you can feed your vegetarian friends.
