First of its kind, Kanpur's new Children's Park to have advanced swings & skating areas!

The latest complex consists of 10 advanced and interesting swings in addition to well-paved specified areas for skating.

Bringing a wave of joy for the young boys and girls in Kanpur, a new Children's Park is set to open its gates in March. Constructed by Kanpur Municipal Corporation, the facility is spread over 1500 square metres of land, encapsulated in Kargil Park, Motijheel, as per reports. Being the first of its kind amongst 600 parks housed in the city, this complex will allow exclusive access to kids and youngsters, thereby, increasing their footfall in Motijheel.

Beautification works under Amrit Yojana

According to reports, this park project is a part of the beautification works worth ₹4.5 crores, being implemented under Amrit Yojana. The latest complex consists of 10 advanced and interesting swings in addition to well-paved specified areas for skating. Mending and strengthening the park boundaries, the fencing has been renovated with new railings. Given the long list of additions that have been worked upon, the park will soon evolve as a favourite destination among children.

KMC & IIT-K to renovate 5 parks across Kanpur

Reportedly, Kanpur Municipal Corporation and IIT-K have planned to renovate 5 parks across the city through collaborative efforts. These include Kargil Park, Tulsi Upvan and Parshuram Vatika, amongst others. Amidst the issues addressed by the proposed plans, the proper disposal of green waste accumulated in the parks will be a priority as it disturbs the beauty of the park and becomes a causes air pollution during its disposal. IIT Kanpur will intervene to convert this biodegradable waste into manure and natural fertilizers.

While the interventions have provided a new space for recreational activities, they have also been aimed at bettering the ecosystem. Through this, one can easily observe the multifaceted objectives of the projects which become important in today's time when sustainable development is a priority.

Flipkart Marketplace to facilitate contactless grocery shopping in Jaipur

On Tuesday, e-commerce platform Flipkart announced that it will expand its grocery services to about 50 cities via the establishment of a 'Marketplace'. With this, the Pink City is all set to get its own retail unit that will ease the task of grocery shopping here. Additionally, the marketplace will also be available in Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Mysore, among others. Reportedly, Flipkart aims to extend its reach to over 70 cities in the next six months.

Auto-rickshaw & taxi rides get costlier in Mumbai

Commuters in Mumbai will now have to pay a minimum fare of ₹21 & ₹25 for all CNG-run auto-rickshaws and taxis, respectively.

The base fare of all CNG-run public commute vehicles, taxis and autorickshaws has witnessed a hike of ₹3 in Mumbai. The decision was finalised in a meeting of the MMRTA last week, chaired by the State Transport Secretary. Effective from Monday, March 1, the minimum rate of travel has been hiked after 6 years in Mumbai and was long overdue, commented the State Transport Minister. Previously, a hike in the base fare was implemented on June 1, 2015.

Mumbai's Central Railway Authority has raised the cost of platform tickets to ₹50, in a bid to avoid overcrowding in the premises. The change will be applicable only at the key stations of the suburban train network, that witness heavy footfalls daily. As per reports, the heightened prices have been in effect since February 24 in view of the unprecedented spike in cases, soon after the resumption of local train services for all. The prices shall remain in force until June 15, this year.

Linking 31k Gram Panchayats to optical fibre, UP expands internet cover in remote regions

The project comes with an objective to equip 58,194 gram panchayats in 75 districts with optical fibre by December 31, 2022.

Renovating the internet facilities at the grassroots, the Uttar Pradesh government has successfully provided high-speed connectivity to 31,149 gram panchayats across the state, under the National Broadband Mission. Linking them with optical fibre, the authorities have ensured a seamless flow of internet services in far-flung regions of the state. Additionally, it is proposed that 14,100 more panchayats shall be connected to internet broadband in the next 2 months.
