A hit among locals who wish to spend their idle evenings amid the picturesque scenery of the Ganga, Kanpur's Ganges Barrage is an ideal spot for locals and tourists alike! This 621-metre-long bridge was built in 1995 and has gone through constant changes that have amplified its beauty. Especially famed as a sunset point, this picture-postcard beauty beckons you to take a virtual tour before you plan an actual visit to observe the surreal scenic beauty that envelops this locale, otherwise known as Ganga Barrage!


Connecting Kanpur to several cities

Ganga Barrage is a dam built across the River Ganga in the Azad Nagar-Nawabganj area of Kanpur. Apart from making a perfect tourist spot, it is also frequented by morning walkers and other exercise enthusiasts. Recently, police personnel also canvassed this location for their Good Morning Kanpur campaign.

Built by the PWD (Public Works Department), this dam is also known as Luv Kush Barrage which alludes to the connection between Kanpur and the era of Ramayana. A lumpsum of ₹695 crores was spent on its construction and a number of developmental projects progressing in its vicinity have turned this area into the ultimate tourist attraction.

Further, Ganga Barrage is a highway bypass for National Highway 91, which connects Kanpur city to Faridabad, Lucknow, Durgapur, Prayagraj, Agra, Asansol, Varanasi, Dhanbad, Mathura and Bardhaman. So even if you don't have enough time to explore this area in detail, you can always take a glimpse of its beauty as you pass through.

Omicron enters Maharashtra as Dombivli resident tests positive

This is the fourth confirmed case of Omicron in India

On Saturday, a 33- year old resident of Kalyan-Dombivli tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The man had travelled in from South Africa via Delhi. He is currently kept under isolation at a Covid Centre in Kalyan-Dombivli. He had earlier complained of mild fever but is now asymptomatic. This makes Maharashtra the third state in the country, after Karnataka and Gujarat, to have reported a case of the new variant of concern.

Walled City's Heritage Walkway to get a facelift by Jaipur Municipal Corporation soon!

Jaipur Municipal Corporation has taken up the repair and beautification work of more than 120 dirty lanes of the Heritage Walkway

In an attempt to improve the appearance of the Walled City, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has decided to undertake a beautification project of a selected number of lanes in the area. As per the reports, the civic body is working to repair and beautify more than 120 lanes of the famous Heritage Walkway. While the repair work was already set in motion earlier, the outbreak of COVID had put a barrier in its progress. With the work being resumed by the JMC now, this project is likely to conclude by February 2022.
