IIT-Kanpur: Leading the Drone industry

As per the press release from IIT Kanpur, the premier technology institute of India will aim to seek more collaborative ventures among state universities and institutes, the industry, and the IITs. The move will ensure holistic research and development, reaching the grassroots level in every aspect.

The highlight of the event will be six showcase projects and 75 projects on different themes. Reportedly, IIT Kanpur will present various projects in the drone and automation sector. Additionally, IIT-K and IIT Madras will jointly present technological developments in the field of 5G.

The drone showcase will be led by IIT-K Prof. Abhishek from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, promoting the advancements done by the institute. The Drone show will emphasise that IIT Kanpur is the only institute to have expertise in all three UAV types- Fixed-wing drones, Flapping-wing drones, and Unmanned rotor-wing/helicopter drones.

Targeting holistic & inclusive development

The selection of the 12 projects of IIT Kanpur for IInvenTiv is also the highest number of approved projects that will be showcased at the meet. The 5G intervention that will be showcased by IIT Kanpur is an indigenous 5G Testbed for India.

As India sprints towards the Amrit Kaal, critical R&D across sectors is the need of the hour. At IIT Kanpur, we have always had a front-foot approach when it comes to research and innovation at the national as well as grassroots level. We are glad to be featuring twelve of our projects at IInvenTiv and to lead the drone and 5G technologies showcases.
