IIT Kanpur's Advanced Drone Data Analytics technology to aid sustainable development

IIT Kanpur has joined hands with Bengaluru-based, AUS (Aarav Unmanned Systems) for developing an Advanced Drone Data Analytics system.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has joined hands with Bengaluru-based firm, AUS (Aarav Unmanned Systems) for developing an Advanced Drone Data Analytics system. The said technology will open new opportunity in the field of collecting and collating emissions, geodetic information for land surveyance, radio signals, agricultural land use and etc.

Notably, the agreement between AUS and the Center for Developing Intelligent Systems (CDIS) of IIT Kanpur was signed last week. CDIS is a technology development unit at IIT Kanpur, that develops intelligent automated systems with an aim to combine skills and resources from across industry, academia, and government. The technology developed by IIT-K and AUS will cater for the advancement of sustainable solutions in fields like rural development, infrastructure and mining.

Unlocking untapped potential of drone data

Aimed at unlocking the untapped potential of drone data, the technology will redefine the future of various public welfare and development schemes that are in place for community development. AUS is touted to be the largest drone-solution provider for the Centre's SVAMITVA scheme. Under this initiative, the company has mapped around 18,000 villages, covering over 55 lakh acres of rural land.

With combined efforts, the developed technology is expected to aid in finding new and sustainable solutions for improvements in areas such as agriculture, mining and oil extraction, leak detection, property inspection, stockpile volume calculation, digital surveying and etc.

What is Advance Drone Data Analysis?

Drone analytics has made it possible for drones to be employed in almost all sectors. Be it agriculture or urban planning, drone analytics has provided experts with in-depth insights on many subjects in the past. This technology has expanded the scope of opportunities for researchers and has furthered the range of data science and data analytics.

Generally, drone data analytics is a software that enables a drone hardware to collect desired data. And now with IIT Kanpur's intervention, it can also be used to collect sensitive data that will be aimed at furthering sustainable advancements in several fields.
