India's Omicron tally crosses the 2,000 mark with 243 new cases reported on Tuesday

Reportedly, 882 people have recovered from the new mutant strain as yet

Ringing loud pandemic alarms, India's tally of Omicron exceeded over the 2000 mark on Tuesday with 243 infections recorded across the nation. In exact figures, around 2,135 coronavirus patients have confirmed Omicron suspicion in the county, with the state of Maharashtra nursing the highest shares of these cases, followed closely by NCT of Delhi. As per reports, around 882 people have recovered from the strain as yet.

The Omicron scare intensifies in India

Going by health bulletin records, Maharashtra has emerged as the worst-hit Omicron state so far with 653 cases, the largest share of the nationwide total. As per the Health Ministry data, around 259 have successfully recovered while the others are also recuperating steadily. In the last 24 hours, around 85 new Omicron cases were detected in Maharashtra, the highest across India

Close on its heels, New Delhi recorded 82 fresh Omicron cases on Tuesday, pushing the total variant tally to 464 cases. This is the second-largest load of Omicron cases coming from a signal region in India. A total of 57 have been discharges as yet, added reports.

A total of 24 states and Union Territories have been infected with the Omicron variant, and Karnataka stands next in line with 185 Omicron cases, followed by Rajasthan with 174 such infections. Around 88 of them have recovered. Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have so far reported 154 and 121 cases of Omicron respectively.

Telangana has also reported 17 more Omicron cases, taking the tally to 84 in the last 24 hours. In Karnataka, 77 people so far have been detected with Omicron infection while the number of infections is 71 in Haryana and 37 in Odisha. Uttar Pradesh's tally was pushed by 23 new cases in the last 24 hours. A total of 31 such cases have been reported here. Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have 24 and 20 cases of this variant so far.

The Omicron case count has limited at single-digit tally in Madhya Pradesh, with 9 and Uttarakhand at 8 cases. Goa and Meghalaya have reported 5 Omicron cases each. Chandigarh and Jammu Kashmir also continue with 3 cases each.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Punjab have 2 cases each so far. A single case plagues Himachal Pradesh, Laddakh and Manipur as yet.
