His latest extravagance has earned him yet another title- 'Bappi Lahiri of UP'.
Manoj Sengar, also known as Manojanand Maharaj, has spent ₹5,00,000 to get a mask made of gold that will protect him from the coronavirus. His huge collection of gold items is common knowledge, thereby, he has two armed bodyguards by his side, for protection at all times. Sengar's love for gold is the reason why he is also known as 'Golden Baba of Kanpur' and his latest extravagance has earned him yet another title- 'Bappi Lahiri of UP'.
All that glitters 'is' gold!
According to Manoj Sengar, this mask made of gold has a sanitiser solution inside it, which will work for 3 years. Adding to the act that qualifies the benchmark of eccentricity, Sengar has named his COVID armour as 'Shiv Sharan Mask'. His passion for gold is believed to parallel that of Bappi Lahiri, as he wears jewellery weighing nearly two kilograms on a daily basis.
The collection of gold items owned by Golden Baba includes four chains which altogether weigh around 250 grams, a conch shell, a fish, a locket of Lord Hanuman, a pair of earrings, a revolver handle, spectacles and three belts. Apart from these, he also owns a pair of shoes made of silver.
It is believed that he ardently watched Mahabharat in the 1990s and his taste for expensive metals is said to have sought inspiration from there. Sengar has often received threats from anti-social elements owing to his bountiful collection which he thwarts by staying under guard, at all times.
