In recognition of the UPMRC’s strict compliance with high-level safety-security standards for the Kanpur Metro project, the Motijheel to IIT Kanpur corridor has received the ‘Effective Safety Culture Award, 2021’ by Greentech Foundation. This priority corridor consists of 9 stations and the entire facility has been set up in complete adherence to safety protocols. As per reports, it is expected that the trial runs of Kanpur Metro will begin on November 15.

After adding this latest feather to its cap, the Kanpur Metro project is now eyeing trial runs before the pre-decided date, which had been marked at November 30. Reportedly, the authorities are trying to start the trials on November 15- the same date when the works related to the elevated track were initiated, back in 2019. Further, reports state that the Kanpur Metro’s maiden corridor has the potential of being the fastest commissioned facility in the country, if the current plans turn into reality.
Metro operations for the public expected to begin in Jan-Feb
Aiming for the present objectives, the authorities have geared up efforts to start trial runs as per the new deadline. Once the trial runs are completed, Kanpur Metro will start its operations for the public in January or February. Besides ushering ease of commute for the city residents, the metro services will resolve traffic woes to a great extent. Given the long list of benefits offered by Lucknow Metro, it can be expected that the upcoming facility in Kanpur will revamp the city’s local transport system similary.
