Notably, the first prototype train set, built at Alstom's rolling stock manufacturing facility in Gujarat's Savli, under the ambit of initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' had reached Kanpur in September while the other was delivered in October. These two sets were being used to continue the extensive trial runs which have now been completed successfully. As per the officials, in the first phase of operations, the metro will start its services on the 9-kilometre long priority corridor between IIT Kanpur and Motijheel.

As the Kanpur Metro is all set to turn into a reality very soon, the city's need for an upgraded and smart means of public transport comes to a fruitful end. A boon for more than 31 lakh residents of Kanpur, the metro service will contribute immensely in resolving the issues of traffic congestions, lack of parking spaces and even air pollution in the city.
