Kanpur pride Ramanuj Mishra to represent UP at National Chess Championship in Ahmedabad

As per officials, two more players from Kanpur participated in the state tournament namely Vidit Srivastava and Ridhima Mishra.

Uttar Pradesh is ready to represent itself at National Chess Championship in Ahmedabad from September 20 to 28. A moment of pride, especially for the people of Kanpur as one of the team members, Ramanuj Mishra hails from this humble city.

The four membered, Uttar Pradesh Chess team comprises of Ajay Santosh Parvat Reddy (Noida), Ramanuj Mishra (Kanpur), Shreyas Singh (Agra) and Prakhar Tripathi (Varanasi).

Three stars from Kanpur 

After a rigorous selection process held in Varanasi on May 18 and 19, only four players were selected on the basis of their performance in the 17th UP International Fide Rating Selection Championship. As many as 118 chess brains (29 girls and 89 boys), from all over the state had participated in the event. 

As per officials, two more players from Kanpur participated in the state tournament namely Vidit Srivastava and Ridhima Mishra. Both of them qualified for the finals, however lost and stood at 12th and 11th place respectively. Meanwhile, Ramanuj Mishra played a draw and secured a place in the UP chess team.
