New butterfly park with over 27 species at the Kanpur Zoo opens gates for visitors!

Reportedly, the Titli Park in Kanpur has been built at a cost of ₹2.57 crore.

In a recent upgrade, a new Butterfly Park has been set up at the Allen Forest Zoo in Kanpur. As per reports, this one-of-a-kind garden was inaugurated by the Environmental Minister on October 2 to commemorate Wildlife Week in the state. Built on the lines of the Bannerghatta Biological Park in Karnataka, the Titli Park is worth ₹2.57 crores and houses about 27 different and special species of butterflies.

Kanpur Zoological Park's new Butterfly garden has adopted state-of-the-art amenities from its counterparts across India. This new space includes two waterfalls, small hills and a butterfly box, on the lines of the Poly House Chandigarh, Nainital Zoo and Raipur Zoo respectively. These characteristic provisions have been introduced to independently maintain the atmosphere and ecosystem of the park.

Reportedly, visitors will be provided with complete information about the butterflies here. The park will open a thrilling site for young children and adults alike, with species like Lemon Pansy, Painted, Plain Tiger, Blue Pansy, Chocolate Pansy, Common Baron, Common Jezzable, Cabbage White, Common Immigrant, Common Mormon, Line Butterfly and the others on display here.

The Kanpur Zoo also launched a new enclosure for leopard cubs during Wildlife Week and provided a home to two cubs in the last week. According to the zoo veterinarian, Dr Nasir, the leopard cubs named Jack and Jerry are aged one and a half years and are the youngest among the lot of 8 cubs housed here.

As per officials, all stalled zoo infrastructure projects in Kanpur, including the availability of resources in the hospital, the beautification work of the lake and the others will also pick up pace. Further reports state that a special budget will be sanctioned soon for the same. Amid a string of new interventions being witnessed in the city, the proposed facelift for the zoo is expected to the attract a large number of locals and tourists.
