On Tuesday, a 115-year-old woman by the name of Jamuni Devi and her son, Raja Ram, 70, were among the voters in the Ghatampur Assembly area. Setting a stellar example of true citizenship, Jamuni Devi was one of the oldest voters at the Ghatrampur bypoll, which is worth everyone’s attention. Speaking to the reporters, her son Raja Ram was quoted saying, ” My mother refused to have breakfast and insisted me to take her to polling station first.” He further added that his mother’s zeal and enthusiasm to cast her vote has left him impressed and inspired.

In a conversation with the media personnel, Jamuni Devi highlighted the fact that she has been a regular voter and didn’t want to miss her chance today. “I would appeal all voters to come and cast their votes,” she said. Around 53.6% of the citizens went to the polling booth to decide the fate of 88 candidates, fielded across seven assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh bypolls. A senior official stated the fact that elderlies were among the first to vote and first-time voters also lined up in huge numbers to vote for their candidate.
