Kanpur’s Govindpuri leads as North Central Railway’s first all-women operated station
Kanpur’s Govindpuri Railway Station has received a remarkable facelift under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and was virtually inaugurated on May 22. It’s the first station under North Central Railway to be entirely managed by women, from ticketing to operations and security, marking a bold step toward inclusivity and empowerment in the railways.
Govindpuri to handle 100 trains soon
The upgraded Govindpuri Station, part of the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, now features modern facilities such as executive lounges, lifts, and waiting areas designed especially for senior citizens and women.
As a cutting-edge alternative to the overcrowded Kanpur Central, Govindpuri is set to handle up to 100 trains by next year, easing congestion and saving valuable time for commuters, especially those from Govind Nagar, Barra, and Juhi. Major trains like the Purushottam and Sampark Kranti Express have already included Govindpuri as a stop.
Notably, the station is fully managed by women, marking a powerful stride in women empowerment. With enhanced connectivity and passenger-friendly amenities, Govindpuri Railway Station is fast becoming a new hub of convenience and pride for Kanpur.
