Linking Kanpur to Lucknow and Unnao, new ₹726 cr Y-shaped bridge to soon streamline travel
Relief is on the way for travellers heading from Kanpur to Lucknow and Unnao, as a new 12-12.5 meters wide Y-shaped bridge will be built, connecting Trans Ganga City to VIP Road. The bridge, which will cost ₹726 crore, has received approval from the CEO of UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) after a meeting with the high-level committee, including the Police Commissioner and the MD of Setu Nigam.
Originally, a four-lane bridge was planned to link Trans Ganga City to Sarasaiya Ghat, but concerns over traffic congestion led to the redesign. The new bridge, stretching over River Ganga, will offer relief to commuters. Vehicles heading from Lucknow to the city, will exit at Dhobi Ghat and reach the city via Bhairav Ghat Marg. Similarly, those travelling from Kanpur towards Trans Ganga City, Unnao, and Lucknow, will access the bridge from Rani Ghat.
The final estimate for the project will be prepared within 15 days, followed by government approval before a detailed project report is created.
