Government schools in UP to get a makeover under the third phase of Mission Shakti

In a bid to instill the concepts of women empowerment in pupils from all academic levels, walls of government schools and colleges in UP will be painted with inspiring women-centric stories. This activity that will be conducted under UP's Mission Shakti program, will also rope in primary schools with the aim of inspiring young minds. As per reports, all intermediate and primary schools along with degree colleges in the state will be refurbished under the project.

In the third phase of Mission Shakti, government schools and colleges in UP will undergo some major transformation. Instructions have been given to paint the walls of these buildings with inspirational stories of women achievers, once the schools reopen. Besides paintings, stories and slogans, women help-desk numbers will also be painted on schools walls. These murals will also display the government helpline numbers.

Reportedly, these paintings will be created by school students themselves, informed a spokesperson. This will instill the concepts of honour and respect for women in young minds.

The Department of Higher Education has been instructed to organise women awareness drives in universities and degree colleges. Institutes are also being encouraged to invite female police officers to boost the interest of girl students in programs related to NCC. Teachers have also been tasked with the responsibility of narrating stories that focus on women empowerment and self-reliance, in order to spread awareness around the same even during regular lectures.

Schools in UP to reopen for classes 1 to 5 from September 1

The announcement of this activity was shortly followed by the news of the reopening of schools for classes 1-5. Physical classes for pupils of 6 to 12 resumed in the state in a graded manner in the month of August. The wall painting activity will be conducted as a co-curricular program to welcome the students to schools, after the pandemic break.
