The elevated road will be furbished with LED lights in the new year`
Taking a cue from cities like Mumbai and Amritsar, the Kanpur Nagar Nigam has decided to illuminate the new Jhakarkati Bridge with LED architectural lights. This ₹32 lakh project will begin in the new year and will see the installation of 50 lights along the road stretch, with 25 fittings on either side. As per reports, the scheme will further focus on the repair work of broken lights on other city bridges, across Kanpur.
Street light installation work to begin in January
A PWD project, the new Jhakarkati Bridge in Kanpur is an 800-meter elevated road that will open for public use as soon as the lighting work is complete. The Kanpur Nagar Nigam and Street Light Department are jointly working on this task and aim to install around 50 LED lights to light up the elevated road.
According to RK Pal, the Chief Engineer of the Project, the tender of the street light work will be introduced on December 30 and the installation task will begin as early as in the first week of January. As of now, the construction agency is erecting light piers on the road to smoothen the LED fitting work.
Besides, the project will also mend all broken lights on other city bridges. Special teams will be deployed for the same. Reportedly, the Street Light Department has installed LED lights in about 110 wards in Kanpur. Around 10 LED fitting have been furnished in each of these zones. Additional teams will also be deployed on GT Road and other things to fix broken street lamps.
