Head over to Rakesh Vyas's ongoing art workshop and learn how to make things with papier mache. Create something wonderful for the world to see, with some amazing guidance on how to learn the intricacies of this dying art form.
Jaipurites are known for having a knack for arts, history and culture. This workshop is one that allows you to hone your skills in the field of papier mache and create all sorts of funky stuff straight from your imagination. The best part? You don't need to have expert skills to make something that looks visually appealing and that's what's so great about papier mache.
At the workshop, you're not only making something that comes from within you, but you're also partaking in an activity that lets you get your emotions out. Feeling sad, happy or elated? Just bung it out in some form of papier mache and you'll see how much of a cathartic experience that can be.
For the uninitiated, we must talk about what papier mache actually is. Paper Mache, literally “chewed paper”, “pulped paper”, or “mashed paper” is a composite material consisting of paper pieces or pulp, sometimes reinforced with textiles, bound with an adhesive, such as glue, starch, or wallpaper paste. The material is easily mouldable, so it's up to you to create whatever you fancy.
