This Durga Pujo, head over to the Uppercase Diner to relish a ‘khub bhalo’ Bengali feast

No matter which part of the world you’re in, you’ll always somehow chance upon a Bengali or as we lovingly call them, ‘bongs’ nearby. You don’t simply meet a bong; they happen to you and how!

Amidst the tons of awesomeness they bring to the table, like their feisty attitude, a plethora of talents or simply their rich culture, almost every Bengali household is a culinary hotspot for foodies all over! Be it an omelette and beguni with khichudi on a rainy day or their biryani with an aromatic aloo nudged amidst the fragrant rice and meat, Bengali cuisine has its own charms. It’s comfort food for the soul and oh, it’s not only about macch-bhaat; it’s beyond that and more.

So keeping the ‘Lakhnavi bong’ community and their Durga Pujo spirit in mind, Uppercase Diner has introduced a Bengali buffet and we’re already fantasizing about the desserts!

For the Palate!

You can start off your bhuri bhoj with their legendary Kolkata’s Phuchka and Chenna Lonkar Kashundi Paturi but don’t fill yourself up just yet! Go for the Machher Chop, Deem’r Chop and do try out Kolkata’s famous Kathi Roll for sure.

For the mains, take your pick from the wide-ranging selection of Indian bread but our forever favourite is definitely Koraishutir Kochuri, made of fresh green peas! Dip this in Cholar Dal and you’ll know why Bengali cuisine is one of our top picks. Kolkata’s Mughlai Parantha will be another crowd puller so make sure that you get a taste of it before moving on to other options.

When here, mix a serving of Kosha Mangsho with steaming hot rice and quickly take a bite of pickled onions along with it for the real deal. But your binge sesh won’t be limited till here.

They even have Dum Biryani for the Biryani fanatics and of course, mishti is an integral part of their culture so don’t shy away from an extra serving of Cham Cham or Mishti Doi because festivities are all about silencing the extra calories! They’ll also be serving Chenna Payesh in earthen bowls for the full-blown Bengali experience and once you spoon a mouthful, there’ll be no going back.

But if you’re planning on exploring a little beyond traditional Bengali food, you can still count on Uppercase Diner to treat you right! Since Kolkata is the birthplace of Indo-Chinese cuisine, they’ve included delicacies like The Gobhi Manchurian and Dragon Chicken for the epicures.
