12 men found in Lucknow’s Sadar are from Saharanpur; area disinfected

Lucknow has been under the radar when it comes to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country. While the last Covid 19 positive case in Lucknow on 31st March, after being virus free for 9 days, 12 new cases have surfaced in the city, yesterday itself. The number of positive cases in Lucknow soared yesterday after 12 men who were found in the city’s Sadar mosque tested positive for the life claiming disease.

These 12 men, though quarantined in Lucknow, are natives of Saharanpur who allegedly came to the city after attending a religious event in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

What’s the update?

12 men, who were found in Sadar mosque, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The entire area, including a 2 kilometre stretch surrounding the viral epicentre in Sadar was promptly sealed off and disinfected. Movement in the area was also banned by the district authorities.

The district authority was quick to disinfect the densely populated area and ensured the safety of citizens living here. Citizens were even made aware of the situation and ordered to stay indoors as a precaution by the police department.

Apart from these 12 men from Saharanpur, no Lucknow resident has yet tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. This comes as a relief as other districts in Uttar Pradesh have not fared so well and the number of cases in the state have risen to 227 (as of Sunday morning).

With the entire country in a lockdown the number of cases across the nation have seen a big surge in the past few days as the total tally in the country rests at 3030 total active cases.
