Reportedly, the Divisional Commissioner of Lucknow has directed the UPSRTC officials to identify alternate routes for these public buses. The move has been initiated to reduce the traffic congestion on roads and to increase the passenger influx in Lucknow Metro.

Alternate route has identified between Charbagh-Aurangabad

As per the plans, the CNG buses will be functional in suburban areas while the e-buses will operate within the city. This will ensure the availability of air-conditioned buses at cheap fares for the commuters within the city.

Reportedly, Manoj Sharma, Assistant Regional Manager of Dubagga bus depot has stated that the district authorities are conducting a survey over alternate bus routes. During the initial phase, the Lucknow city transport service is planning to run buses on the Charbagh-Aurangabad route.

Furthermore, the bus stops on this route have also been identified which will include Charbagh, Mawaiya, Alambagh Police Station, Jail Road, Bangla Bazar, Telibagh, Utretia, Aurangabad, Bijnor via Chandawal.

More about the decision

Earlier this year, Lucknow authorities also halted e-rickshaw operations on the metro route i.e. from Amausi to Munshi Puliya crossing to facilitate the city transport system.

After the implementation, the move is expected to aid commuters travelling from the outskirts to the main city and even on the alternate routes of Lucknow. More so, the functioning of buses on alternate routes can also contribute to the reduction of traffic load on the metro route.
