₹98-cr road project to decongest Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar, Chinhat
To tackle chronic traffic snarls in Lucknow, road development projects worth over ₹98 crore were launched on Thursday, under Phase II of the CM Grid scheme. Focused on high-rush stretches in Gomti Nagar and Chinhat, including Vibhuti Khand and Moti Mahal Marg, the upgrades aim to ease congestion, reduce accidents, and deliver a modern, well-connected road network by mid-2027.
Safer, greener, and better connected roads
The scheme will bring integrated infrastructure with footpaths, utility ducts, green zones, solar-powered streetlights, bus stops, EV charging stations, and beautification measures. In Vibhuti Khand, road stretches linking key points like Mandi Parishad Office, Techno Power, Pickup Bhawan, PNB Training Institute, IGP Crossing, and Eldeco Elegance will be upgraded at a cost of ₹61.37 crore. Another ₹37.25 crore will be spent on improving Moti Mahal Marg and the busy Vishal Mega Mart–Awadh Bus Station stretch in Chinhat Ward II.
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, who laid the foundation stone, said the widening of roads will ease daily jams for thousands of vehicles and improve safety. She emphasised timely completion and quality assurance. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar highlighted the focus on both infrastructure and green development. With Phase I already seeing work on 7 roads worth ₹186 crore, the second phase is expected to accelerate urban mobility in these high-traffic zones.
