Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is one of the many wetlands in the northern part of India and it is counted amidst the jewels of Uttar Pradesh. Complete with a reclining lake and a picturesque set-up in every nook and corner, this sanctuary also boasts of watchtowers and boats, which add immensely to its beauty! Birds like Spotwill, Woodpecker, Parakeet, Painted Stork, Coot, Common Teal, Shoveller, Pochard are some of the residents here and it is a must-visit if you’re an ardent bird watcher.

Also known as the Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary since 2015, this natural hotspot of flora and fauna is a popular tourist spot. Seated in Unnao, this bird sanctuary is wrapped by dense verdant forests on all sides and is home to over 250 species of aviary beauties. These winged creatures include domestic Indian birds as well as migratory birds, which are visible in hordes during the winter months. Species like the Peafowl, Sarus Crane, King Crow, Indian Roller are among the ones which draw in visitors and along with it, this sanctuary also serves as an abode for reptiles like Viper, Water Snakes, Cobra, Rattlesnakes and others.
When here, you’ll also spot a sprawling deer park situated on the premises and overall, Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is a haven for nature lovers and wildlife explorers alike. To add to its charms, this sanctuary also boasts of an ‘interpretation centre’, which has been set up to conduct in-depth studies of the characteristics and behaviour of birds, stemming from different genres.
Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary also has a pond in its compounds, along which you can indulge in leisurely strolls and there’s also a well-maintained playground for kids, which is replete with all things fun for them.
