Lucknow wakes up to yet another cold winter morning as the sun remains shrouded by haze and fog. As per forecasts, night temperatures in the city will go as low as 10°C which will be accompanied by soft-blow of eastward winds. The cold will intensify and the temperature dip will be more evident in the following weeks as the winds will turn their direction, blowing towards west and north-west.

Though the sun rose over the horizon at 6:55 AM, the sky did not clear up until late morning. The morning fog, however, will dissipate from all areas, casting an open sky during the day. With 31% cloud cover, there is zero expectations of rains or thunderstorms today. Maximum and minimum temperatures will hold the mercury at 23°C and 10°C respectively accompanied by soft blows of variable winds in the east direction.
As per forecasts, the temperatures will plummet to 7-8°C in the coming days, extending the winter-spell over the city. Similar weather conditions are expected to stall over the city until the end of January and the beginning of February. People are advised to take caution against the lowering mercury and the consequently lowering air quality. People already suffering from respiratory problems may have problems in breathing on prolonged exposure.
