In another news for artistes of Lucknow, the city’s cultural university Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is now accepting admissions for the current academic session.
The admissions for 2023-24 session will begin from the first week of July and will include undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the performing arts (BPA and MPA respectively). Thus, candidates can specialise in the art form of choice, garner basics and receive professional training in music and dance.
Similarly, MPA is for aspirants that already have a bachelors degree. If not, the applicant would need the degree or a six-year diploma in any other stream.
Types of courses at Bhatkhande
The aforementioned courses range in Hindustani classical vocals, instrumentals in sitar, sarod, violin, sarangi, guitar and flute; percussions include tabla and pakhawa. The programmes are also offered for both Kathak and Bharatnatyam.
Apart from the above, 4 diploma degrees for students of various age groups (10-16 years) and eligibility criteria are also available at Bhatkhande. Moreover, specialised diplomas for thumri-dadra, dhrupad-dhamar, harmonium or synthesiser, folk dance, folk music and dholak are offered.
Notably, Bhatkhande accepts casual admissions in all courses. However, these students will not receive a qualification certificate after the completion of the term. The students enrolling in casual admissions will also not be required to maintain attendance or appear for exams.
For students keen on joining Bhatkhande, hostel facilities are also available for females. The ones interested in staying near the campus will have to express their interest in admission forms available at the college office in Qaiserbagh.
