Amidst foul air surfacing the Delhi atmosphere and creating a ‘severe’ category on people’s health, Lucknow stands on the same line of pollution clad air. According to the data provided by AQI, Lucknow’s air was under ‘severe’ category with a value of 471 in Lalbagh on Thursday.
The severe value is a critical one for adults and will effect more prominently to those who are already suffering from respiratory disease. The nation is on urgency and the government has already declared a health emergency in Delhi.
On Wednesday the AQI in Delhi reached to 478 and increased smog in National Capital region. It also brought a fall in maximum and minimum temperature. Several videos of cars colliding on the Yamuna expressway went viral on social media when Delhi’s visibility between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday was 300 meters.
Lucknow’s AQI remained severe on Wednesday evening and the city was covered with considerable smog. According to Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, the city is already facing severe pollution levels and therefore burning activities should be kept on a check and should be heavily penalized. Though here is an image from ‘Baalu Adda’ near Lohia Path where a lot of garbage was burned releasing large fumes.

Other places which were covered in smog involved Gomti Nagar’s extensive skyline from Shalimar tower to Renaissance and Inox riverside mall. The Gomti riverfront which was a beautiful site once has turned soar due to increasing pollution and smog.

The increasing level pollution indicates the worst conditions that are prevailing in our city right now. The level of severity puts Lucknow directly in the line of Delhi as we are on the verge of turning into the next Gas chamber.
