Agra-Lucknow Expressway set to expand from 6 to 8 lanes, enhancing safety and convenience!
The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is all set to expand the 302.2-km Agra-Lucknow Expressway, from six to eight lanes. The ₹1939 crore project aims to improve traffic flow and prioritise safety, following increasing accidents.
This access-controlled expressway with limited entry/exit points, stretches from Etmadpur Madra Village, near Agra, to Sarosa Bharosa Village near Lucknow's Mohan Road.

Expanding the current structure from six to eight lanes
Safety Enhancements:
Marking accident-prone zones
Installing speed governors and laser speed guns for automated detection
Increasing surveillance cameras along the expressway
Revoking licences of drivers caught under the influence of alcohol
Electric vehicle charging stations to support eco-friendly transport
Rebuilding lanes damaged by overloaded vehicles
Boosting travel efficiency and elevating safety standards
Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand have conducted inspections, ensuring thorough planning. Rajesh Pandey, UPEIDA’s Nodal Officer, emphasised safety as the cornerstone of the upgrades.
The selection of a firm for execution is underway, with work expected to commence shortly. These enhancements will not only boost travel efficiency but also elevate safety standards, reinforcing the expressway's pivotal role in Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure.
