Amid the recent swell of the second wave of the coronavirus, schools across UP have been ordained to observe a shutdown. This has been officiated via an order by the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic Education, who directed all educational institutes in Lucknow and other UP districts to completely remain closed (Classes I to XII) until May 15. Online classes will also remain suspended, read reports.
School shutdown order extends in UP, yet again!
Earlier, all schools across Uttar Pradesh were to remain shut till April 30, however, the order has been stretched for a fortnight now, in light of the rising trend of coronavirus infections. As per reports, the first order to shut down schools in UP was received on March 24 and since then, about 3 extension orders have been issued by the state. Besides schools, this order also directs all colleges, coaching institutes and other educational establishments in the state to close classes.
Along with educational institutes, digital classrooms and online classes, will also remain suspended during the next two weeks, announced the ACS Secondary Education. No teacher or staff will be present at any school and all work will be done from home. Additionally, all teachers at government schools have been directed to work from home till May 20.
Meanwhile, this shutdown will also push the university and college exams till May 15, 2021. The Deputy CM of the state has reportedly said that the decision regarding varsity exams will be announced in the first week of May.
