Avadh Gallery in Lucknow Zoo to be modernized with tech integration

As part of the renovation, the two halls of the Avadh Gallery are undergoing a complete overhaul.

In a bid to provide visitors with a more comprehensive understanding of the region's cultural and historical legacy, the State Museum's Avadh Gallery, located within the premises of Lucknow Zoo, is currently undergoing a revamp.

This redesigned gallery will be integrated with latest technology to offer an immersive experience to the visitors. This renovation work, that's being overseen by the Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad, is set to be completed by June this year.

Newer items to be showcased in the Avadh Gallery

The Avadh Gallery which was established around 50 years ago showcases several exhibits including 120 distinct objects including Awadhi clothing, culture, metalwork, paintings, and more providing insights into the city's past and the Nawabi era.

As part of the renovation, the two halls of the Avadh Gallery are undergoing a complete overhaul. Additionally, the gallery will feature several new exhibits highlighting the cultural and historical significance of the Avadh region, including paintings from the Nawabi era, dioramas of monuments, musical instruments and sculptures.

These exhibits will offer visitors a detailed understanding of the region's heritage, which includes Lucknow, Ayodhya, and other locations. To ensure that the gallery remains in excellent condition, worn-out exhibits are being replaced as part of the revamp.

Gallery will be equipped with modern tech to provide interactive experience

Besides the infrastructural overhaul and addition of newer exhibits, the gallery will also receive a technological upgrade. Under this, the visitors will be provided with tablets which will serve as digital guides, providing all the information related to exhibits.

In addition to the new exhibits, the renovated Avadh Gallery will also feature historical maps that will provide visitors with information about the geography and history of the Avadh region.

At the conclusion of the gallery, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the 1857 War of Independence in Awadh through infographics displayed on posters and archival documents.
