Bolstering inclusiveness, UP Sports Dept to work on strengthening Para Sports ecosystem
The Sports department of Uttar Pradesh is developing strategies to expand facilities and enhance the para sports ecosystem of the state for differently-abled athletes. The goal is to encourage and support these athletes in their athletic pursuits.
Pertaining to the same, a meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of sports, Navneet Sehgal was held this Friday in Bapu Bhawan, Lucknow. During this, recognition was given to Para Sports Association. The UP government will now work on the provision of exceptional sports infrastructural facilities to para athletes in the state, and they will be included in all government schemes to ensure they receive maximum benefits.
What are the key pointers under the sports department's schemes?
The state sports department has planned extensive schemes, and during a recent meeting. Several agendas are to be implemented in the near future. From provision of disabled-friendly sports infrastructure and appointing special trainers to mentor para athletes here are the key pointers:
Para sports and para-athletes will be benefitted from every scheme of the department
State-owned sports facilities, including hostels, will be equipped with infrastructure that is friendly to differently-abled individuals.
Dedicated quotas will be fixed for para players in sports centres and academies.
Special facilities will be developed for blind and deaf sports
Paralympians like Olympians will also be given recognition and will be rewarded by the government
Along with this, special trainers will be recruited for training para athletes of the state.
