Gearing up to implement the provision of National Education Policy 2020, Lucknow University has prepared the course curriculum for the four-year undergraduate program. Keeping the ongoing situation in view, the management has included concepts related to the COVID pandemic too. While these additions will help students to understand the present circumstances in the detail, they shall also equip the pupils with a vision to tackle the upcoming problems.

While the syllabus has been sanctioned by the different boards of studies and faculty board, the final call will be taken after the academic council approves it in the meeting on July 17. Psychology coordinator Archana Shukla stated, “Our four-year UG courses focus on providing student employability at every step, hence, concepts which are the need of the hour have been included.”
She further affirmed that mental health issues will be incorporated for the first time. Besides, teachers and students will both be encouraged to take up research and studies in this crucial field. With the escalating timeline of the pandemic, stress and anxiety levels have amplified amidst the students and various mental health issues have cropped up. This makes it important to address this problem with a vision to provide better academic journeys to the students and enhance employability.

It has also been stated that the Social Work Department will introduce the students to the challenges of the health care system, with a special focus on the ongoing pandemic. “To make the course job-oriented we have focused more on fieldwork in our new UG syllabus. For learning a concept, a student has to go among the people to explore and find out challenges,” said Prof Anoop Kumar Bhartiya, Head of the Social Work Department.
He informed that the students will be apprised about the better management of people, institutions and resources. It would aid in optimal usage of the medical services and amenities to effectively cater to the requirements of the citizens amid the current pandemic. Additionally, the political science courses are also being tweaked to include alternations in international politics and the changes expected thereof.
