In a bid to control the record-breaking spike in COVID tallies, the Lucknow district administration has executed a list of restrictions and bans in the city. As a part of this, a total of 950 spots across Lucknow have been barricaded by PWD and municipal officials in the past few days. Reportedly, the PWD authorities have locked 400 spots while 550 other places have been blocked by the municipal officers.

Due to increasing COVID cases in Ashiyana and Sharda Nagar, the Bangla Bazaar road has been barricaded and all commuter traffic has been stopped. Besides this, the main street of Sapna Colony in Rajajipuram has been blocked, prohibiting movements to a number of areas like the mini-stadium.
In accordance with directives issued by the district administration and police chiefs, PWD and municipal corporation are executing steps for blocking and barricading the locations with a large count of active cases. While PWD has been assigned the regions of Vikas Nagar, Gomti Nagar, Gomti Nagar Extension, Aliganj, Mahanagar and Chinhat, other areas of the city lie under the municipality. Given the current circumstances, there is hardly a locality in the city which is free from road restrictions.
In addition to this, the Municipal Corporation is also undertaking quick measures to seal households in vulnerable areas. Speaking of this, the municipal authorities informed that 1,091 sealing interventions were deployed till late Sunday evening, reportedly.

The municipal corporation has also accelerated sanitisation activities by increasing the number of specific equipment. While 31 tankers, 3 anti-smog machines and 140 handheld machines were used before, 110 more handheld instruments have added and there are plans to purchase another 200, reportedly. Additionally, 3 jetting machines from the Water department, 6 vehicles of the Fire Brigade Department and 50 rented mechanised sanitisation systems also being used.
While the containment zones are being sanitised regularly, this activity is being conducted in the non-containment zones at an interval of one day. Apart from this, all public places including the railway station, Alambagh and Kesarbagh bus stations and central markets like Hazratganj are also being sanitised using big machines.

Around 110 Nigrani Samitis functional in Lucknow are executing initiatives to control the spread of the virus. Amongst many works undertaken by them, they are keeping a tab on all travellers returning to the city. Through this, they are spotting the individuals with COVID symptoms, preventing them from becoming sources of unchecked virus spread.
Lucknow administration is also ensuring that the masking protocol is meticulously followed. For this, joint teams of municipal and police officials are conducting extensive drives for penalising unmasked people in public places. Implemented on the orders of the District Commissioner, this program witnessed 409 rule violators being fined on Sunday.
