Cyclonic disturbance triggers weather shift; storm warning across Lucknow & other UP cities
A rapid change in weather has swept across Lucknow and much of Uttar Pradesh, as storm systems grip North India. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority for Women Empowerment (NDMAEW) has warned that volatile weather will persist for the next 72 hours, urging the public to remain cautious.
According to experts, light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorm, and hail are expected in Lucknow, Barabanki, Hardoi, and other central districts. Cloud cover persisted over Lucknow throughout Sunday, with drizzle and cool winds beginning in the evening.
Cyclonic systems behind weather turmoil
Active cyclonic wind pressure systems over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bangladesh, and Assam are behind the current instability. These systems have drawn in moisture from both the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, resulting in dense cloud formation over Uttar Pradesh. The worst-hit areas include Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Aligarh, and Agra.
Rabi crop at risk, farmers advised caution
As the Rabi harvest continues across the state, the sudden weather shift poses a risk of crop damage from hail and strong winds. The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to secure harvested produce and stay updated with regular forecasts.
