Did you know that OPD registrations in government hospitals can be done by scanning QR codes?

Earlier in December 2022, the National Health Authority rolled out a revolutionary scheme under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission which now lets patients do a quick scan and share OPD registration at any of the government hospitals of India. This can be done via specialized QR codes available at most of the healthcare centres.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission's 'Scan and Share' service ensures quick registration and reduces waiting time during rush hours. Also, it further ensures a seamless process without making patients stand in queues.

In order to access the OPD registeration service, patients are first-of-all required to create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). This can be done by validating the Aadhaar card or driving license from: https://healthid.abdm.gov.in/register

• This will further generate a 14-digit code that will validate the user as a participant in India's digital healthcare ecosystem.

• After this, patients need to log in to health applications like the Arogya Setu app, Bajaj Health or the ABHA app on their mobile devices.

• After successfully logging into the applications, patients can simply scan the QR code available at various government hospitals in India and share their ABHA number with the hospital.

• With this, the Hospital Management Information System will be able to access all the personal info like name, age, gender, guardian’s name, address, mobile number and others, necessary for the OPD registration process.

• The patient can now just simply collect their outpatient slip and visit the doctor.

Now, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released a nationwide list of the top 10 government hospitals which are efficiently using 'Scan and Share' OPD registration services. As a significant feat for the health department of Uttar Pradesh, nine of the top 10 hospitals of India which have secured positions from the state.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that two of the hospitals securing top ranks are based in Kanpur, while two other government hospitals of Lucknow have also managed to secure prominent positions in the list.
