Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport is looking to enhance air connectivity to major cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow and Prayagraj, to meet growing passenger demand. A recent meeting, chaired by Member of Parliament Atul Garg, brought together representatives from airlines, the Indian Air Force (IAF), and other key stakeholders to discuss plans for expanding regional routes.

Currently serving 16 destinations, the airport's terminals are reportedly saturated, underscoring the need for expansion.

Hindon Airport to expand as passenger traffic soars

The meeting also followed a significant announcement by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, who confirmed the acquisition of additional nine acres for the expansion of the civil terminal. With a rapidly growing passenger base, Hindon Airport’s development is key to boosting regional air connectivity, especially in the lead-up to Diwali.

With passenger occupancy at an impressive 92% and over six lakh travellers in the past six months, the demand is clear. Officials are aiming to start services to Lucknow and Prayagraj before Diwali.

NCR's growing hub

Situated in the Delhi-NCR, Hindon Airport is rapidly emerging as a popular regional aviation hub. Currently operating 21 flights to destinations like Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, and Patna, the airport is experiencing significant growth. With terminals nearing capacity, planned expansions are expected to strengthen its role as a major regional connector both for UP and the Delhi NCR region.
