Ensuring safety for walkers, LMC to construct new foot overbridges at 10 prime locations in Lucknow

In yet another road infrastructure development move, Lucknow is all set to get 10 new foot over bridges, soon

Under the ambit of the Smart City scheme, Lucknow is all set to get 10 new foot over bridges soon! As per sources, the proposal for this road infrastructure development project has already received a green signal from the administration. This move is aimed to add ease and safety to the commute of pedestrians who need to cross busy roads amid heavy traffic.

Work to begin after PWD's nod

So far, the authorities have finalised four places in the city including Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Mithai Wala Square and Haniman Chauraha to build these bridges.

During the meeting on Friday, Ajay Dwivedi, CEO and Municipal Commissioner of Smart City Company revealed that the administration is currently earmarking other suitable areas as well. After finalising all the places and obtaining the NOC from the Public Works Department, the authorities will initiate the construction work.

No separate fund allotted for the project

According to officials, since building these foot over bridges does not require a lot of funds, no separate budget has been allotted for the same. The funds leftover from other development schemes running across Lucknow will be utilised to set up these foot over bridges across the city.

Once completed, this project will act as a boon for all the people who walk on the busy roads of the city. Apart from offering them a safer and a free walkway, the foot overbridges will also help in streamlining vehicular flow by reducing the footfall of pedestrians on the main roads.
