Eye in the sky! High-tech Mobile Drone Vehicle to enhance Lucknow Police's surveillance ops

Equipped with a car that will serve as the drone's base, the MDVs have a backup of 10 hours added with facial recognition tech.

The police authorities in urban regions of Uttar Pradesh often rely on drone surveillance, especially during crowded events. In a move to enhance drone surveillance operations in the city, Lucknow Police is set to introduce a highly advanced Mobile Drone Vehicle (MDV).

Notably, this specialized vehicle-backed drone has an impressive 10-hour flight duration, coupled with advanced facial recognition technology. This marks a significant upgrade compared to the drones currently used by police teams, which typically have a flight duration of only 10 to 15 minutes.

The city-based robotic company, Roboz, led by robotics expert Milind Raj, has developed an advanced drone integrated with a car, serving as both its base and operational unit.

  • Another notable feature of this Mobile Drone Vehicle (MDV) is its mobility. With a quick and straightforward installation process, it is ready for immediate deployment.

  • This vehicle-integrated drone enables continuous monitoring through its onboard drone, with live feed accessible via an internal screen.

  • It is equipped with a wired connection and a generator to ensure continuous battery backup.

  • Significantly, the drone can be equipped with criminal data from police records, enabling it to identify individuals using its facial recognition technology and subsequently alert the authorities.

  • Reportedly, this drone's usage can be highly effective for city monitoring during upcoming events such as political processions related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, IPL matches, and other gatherings.
