A celebration of Uttar Pradesh's diverse culture, the Handloom Handicraft Festival 2021 in Lucknow is pulling the town's art enthusiasts by the dozen. Taking place in Aliganj, this fair is being organised by the state on the lines of the 'vocal for local' to promote its varied and vibrant folkways on a regional platform. So if you have been waiting to explore something new and lively, the rustic aesthetics of the Handloom Festival will definitelyuplift your mood in a jiffy!



A shopping destination that does it all!

Inaugurated on November 9, 2021, the Handloom Handicraft Festival has set the stage and stalls for the ODOP scheme. When you walk here, indigenous special products from each UP district greet you, adding colour and charm to the event. Ushering in craftsmen from different states of the country, festival coordinator and in charge Vinay Dubey and Ranveer Singh highlighted this fair in Lucknow will elevate the cultural landscape of the state and familiarise the people with their own roots.

A frolic of retail units, selling Kolkata sarees, patchwork bedsheets, Bhadohi carpets, Kashmiri shawls and suits, Kashmiri nuts, Panipat quilts and blankets, Jaipuri bedsheets, dry flowers, and many such iconic items are on display here. Visitors can also get their hands on organic beauty products, decor and furniture, marbles handicraft sculptures, health & fitness products, lehenga-chunari & designer suits, silverware and even handcrafted designer embroidered Rajasthani purses & bags as well!

And that's not all! Stalls selling kitchen essentials, plastic products as cheap as ₹7 to ₹50 will make sure you don't leave the fest empty-handed! Along with this, stalls of aachar pickle from Rajasthan, papad from Gujarat and various traditional food items are stationed here, to appeal to one and all.

More than a carnival, the event will double up as an honourary stage which will confer the 'handicraft rattan' oto the various personalities in the country to support their small yet significant steps to preserve culture.

PWD to widen & repair road leading Chandrika Devi Temple from Sitapur Road in Lucknow!

Public Work Department will partner up with district administration and police department to conduct an anti-encroachment drive on this route as well

Soon the residents of Lucknow will be able to travel to Chandrika Devi Temple with ease, as the road leading to the temple will be widened and repaired by the administration soon. In an effort to facilitate easier and smoother traffic movement, the Public Work Department will undertake repair work on the road leading to Chandrika Devi Temple from Sitapur Road. Apart from the repair work, the authorities will also widen the 11.45 kilometre long road as well. According to the reports available at present, the work on this project is expected to start this month.

IIM Indore & MP govt join hands to promote products made by self-help groups run by women

Working towards the goal of making women self-reliant, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to initiate a unique scheme to promote the products made by women's self-help Groups, across the state. This step will help in the financial growth of these women. The administration has partnered up with the Indian Institute of Management Indore to provide assistance to the SHG women. Reportedly, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIM Indore on Thursday, for the same.

​Small cities without zonal plans in Rajasthan may regularise colonies under 'Shahar 2021' campaign

Cities with less than 1 lakh population, not having a zonal plan will get relief under this meausure.

All cities in Rajasthan, even those that do not have a zonal plan, are likely to witness the regularisation of colonies on agricultural land during its six-month-long 'Shahar-2021' campaign. As per reports. the state is currently mulling over a proposal to generate lease deeds in about 184 cities here, that have less than 1 lakh population. Once passed, the order will bring relief to smaller cities that do not meet the High Court instated criteria for the process of regularisation, read reports.

Upcoming cloverleaf road to ease traffic woes in Lucknow's Rajajipuram area

The road will be completed by March 2022 and will be made at a cost of ₹16 crores

In a bid to streamline intense traffic locks at the Alambagh-Chowk railway overbridge (ROB), the Setu Corporation has started the construction of a one-way road in Rajajipuram in Lucknow. This construction of this cloverleaf road is expected to complete by March 22, enhancing mobility for over 3 lakh vehicles that frequent the area. As per reports, the ₹16 crore project was approved and sanctioned in March 2021 only, however, could not proceed due to the second wave of coronavirus.

Omicron enters Maharashtra as Dombivli resident tests positive

This is the fourth confirmed case of Omicron in India

On Saturday, a 33- year old resident of Kalyan-Dombivli tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The man had travelled in from South Africa via Delhi. He is currently kept under isolation at a Covid Centre in Kalyan-Dombivli. He had earlier complained of mild fever but is now asymptomatic. This makes Maharashtra the third state in the country, after Karnataka and Gujarat, to have reported a case of the new variant of concern.

Jaipur Municipal Corporation has taken up the repair and beautification work of more than 120 dirty lanes of the Heritage Walkway

In an attempt to improve the appearance of the Walled City, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has decided to undertake a beautification project of a selected number of lanes in the area. As per the reports, the civic body is working to repair and beautify more than 120 lanes of the famous Heritage Walkway. While the repair work was already set in motion earlier, the outbreak of COVID had put a barrier in its progress. With the work being resumed by the JMC now, this project is likely to conclude by February 2022.
