To accommodate the increased passenger movement for the upcoming Holi festival, Indian Railways is diligently working to introduce festive special trains. As part of this initiative, Northern Railways has also rolled out special trains which are now operational.
Most of these trains will connect Delhi stations to key cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Basti, Gonda, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad. Moreover, several trains will further extend connectivity to cities in Bihar along their routes.

1,035 new buses to provide seamless travel in UP for Holi
With the surge in passenger traffic and rising fares for both rail and air travel, UPSRTC has introduced 1,035 new e-buses across its 19 regions. In the first phase, these buses have already been deployed, with an additional 1,297 electric buses set to be rolled out soon.
Along with the regular buses, additional festive fleets will remain operational between March 8 to 18, 2025. UP Transport Minister (Independent Charge) has directed officials to ensure smooth travel arrangements for passengers. Given the high commuter volume from Ghaziabad, Delhi and other key locations in western Uttar Pradesh, authorities will increase the number of buses and staff in these regions as required.
