IMD issues Yellow Alert in Lucknow; light-moderate rain to continue till August 4

Keep your umbrellas out and handy Lucknowites, as the Lucknow weather forecast predicts rainy days ahead! As per the forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the nimbus cover will sustain over the Capital City till August 4, resulting in light to moderate rainfall.

Keeping in mind the expected rainfall, the state MeT has issued a Yellow Alert in Lucknow for the next 4 days. While moderate rain is expected to continue for the next four days, heavy rainfall is likely to pour down on Friday and Saturday.

Rainfall moves AQI to good-satisfactory level

After the light shower on Monday, Lucknow's daily temperature hovered between a maximum of 33°C to a minimum of 26°C. As per the forecast by IMD, the mercury will come down by a degree in Lucknow, by the end of this week. While light rain and thundershowers are likely to continue till Thursday, the Capital City is expected to witness heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

Apart from bringing down temperature, consistent rainfall has also improved the Air Quality Index across the state. AQI of most UP cities has been reported under the good-satisfactory category, which is likely to continue till the end of the week. Lucknow's AQI stood at 54 on Monday, which comes under the good category.

Rain alert issued in 54 UP districts

As a part of the ongoing monsoon season, different parts of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving showers of rain for a while now. According to the Director of the Meteorological Center, Lucknow, a rain alert has been issued in 54 districts of UP.

Cloudy skies with intermittent rain will take over different parts of the state, warned the state MeT department. On Sunday, a total of 16 districts received more than 3 cm of rain in UP. In the current Monsoon season, the state has received 235.1mm of rainfall which is below normal.

Apart from Lucknow, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lucknow, Barabanki and Kanpur are also likely to get wet on Monday.
