Lucknow woke up to partly cloudy skies that gave way to afternoon showers and breezy conditions, offering respite from recent humidity. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in the hills and water release from dams have caused rivers across Uttar Pradesh to swell. In Bundelkhand and central UP, several rivers have breached or are nearing warning levels, cutting off access to hundreds of villages. The Ganga has crossed danger marks in Varanasi and Chandauli, while water levels in the Ghaghra and Saryu continue to rise.

Indian Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall across most of Uttar Pradesh on August 2 and 3. The intensity is expected to vary by region, with central and Bundelkhand districts most affected. Thunderstorms and lightning may also accompany the rains.

District-wise weather outlook

  • Jalaun: Intermittent showers have cooled temperatures and freshened farmlands. Light rain and thunderstorms are predicted over the next two days.

  • Jhansi: Recent weather changes have brought cooler conditions. Friday’s high is expected at 27°C, with Saturday likely to remain mostly clear.

  • Mahoba: The district is enjoying pleasant, cloudy weather. Saturday may see light rain or isolated thunderstorms.

  • Hamirpur: A mix of sunshine, showers, and cloudy spells continues. With falling temperatures and rising humidity, the weather is more comfortable.
